Field Trip to the Supreme Court

Friday, September 21, 2018 Stratford ESL will take a field trip to the Supreme Court of the United States!

We will meet at 10 a.m. at Capitol South Metro Station on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines.  It's about a 5-10 minute walk from there to the courthouse.  We can walk around inside the court, take a tour, learn about the history of the building and probably take a few photographs!

Bring your camera and your walking shoes!  See you there!

Field Trip to the U.S. Capitol Building



Tomorrow, June 28, 2018, @StratfordESL is going to visit the U.S. Capitol Building.  

We will meet at the exit of the Capitol South Metro station at 10:00 and from there we can walk to the Capitol together.  We'll take the tour, check the museum and possibly walk through the tunnel to the Library of Congress.

Field Trip to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing

Tomorrow, August 31st, Stratford ESL will take a field trip to the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. At the "Money Factory", as it is known, we will watch a film about currency and take a tour of the facility. The tour is free, so you don't need any money unless you want to buy something from the gift shop.

We will meet at the Smithsonian Metro Station on the Blue, Orange or Silver lines at 10 a.m. and walk together to the Bureau.  Be sure to exit the station toward the National Mall.  If you exit toward the Dept. of Agriculture, you will be on the wrong side of the street. The weather is supposed to be nice, but be prepared for anything!  If you bring your camera, we'll take some pictures.  See you tomorrow!

Field Trip to Smithsonian Folk Life Festival

Students from StratfordESL are going to visit the Smithsonian Folk Life festival, tomorrow, July 6th, 2017.  We are going to take the Metro and meet at Smithsonian Metro Station at 10:30.  There are two exits from the station, so be careful to use the exit which says "National Mall."  We will meet at the top of the escalator and walk from there.  We will be walking around the National mall, so you should wear comfortable shoes.  It might rain, so you need to bring an umbrella.  If it rains, we can go inside a nearby museum.  You can bring food and water if you want to have lunch.  You can also bring your camera if you want to take pictures.

Field Trip to the Library of Congress - Reading Room Open House

      Tomorrow, February 20th, the Library of Congress is holding their biannual Open House of the Reading Room.  The Library is located at 101 Independence Ave SE, across the street from the U.S. Capitol building.  It opens at 10a.m. and closes at 5p.m.  The closest Metro station is Capitol South on the Orange or Blue lines. We can meet at the Metro Station exit at 10a.m. and walk to the Library from there.

      After the open house, you can take a free guided tour around the building which starts every hour, at the half hour and lasts about 1 hour. See you tomorrow! Bring your cameras!

Field Trip to the U.S. Botanic Garden


Stratford ESL is going on a field trip!  On Thursday, 12/14/2016, we are going to visit the U.S. Botanic Garden.

We'll meet at the Federal Center SW Metro Station (Blue/Orange/Silver) at 10 a.m. and walk to the garden from there.  The Garden is mostly indoors, but the walk may be chilly, so dress appropriately! Bring your camera and wear good walking shoes.
